ABAP CloudLearn the language. Build with data.

A hands-on course at DCI — Digital Career Institute, taking you from your first ABAP class to CDS models, custom persistence, and RAP business objects. Follow the lessons, then explore workshops, cheat sheets, projects, and certification practice in Resources.

These learning materials are part of the SAP Development course at DCI — Digital Career Institute.

New to the course?

Follow this learning path. Each overview lists the prerequisites and links to the material you need.

  1. Setup — install Eclipse and ADT, then connect to your ABAP Cloud environment. Skip this if your project already opens in ADT.

  2. ABAP Foundations — begin with Lesson 1, complete the Git & GitHub workshop, then work through Lessons 2–4. Take the Local Classes & Local Types mini lesson before continuing with Lessons 5–9.

  3. ABAP SQL, CDS & RAP — progress from reading database tables to CDS models, aggregation, custom persistence, and safe SQL writes. Lessons 10–14 introduce RAP business objects, managed behavior, EML transactions, validations, determinations, messages, actions, and feature control. Lessons 15–18 add authorization, projection and OData V4 services, draft editing, and parent/child compositions. Lesson 19 introduces RAP business events. Continue with Lesson 20 — RAP & CDS Extensibility, then take the HTTP Workshop — REST APIs with ABAP Cloud. Lesson 21 applies this knowledge to S/4HANA OData APIs and Clean Core; Lesson 22 adds ABAP Unit, debugging, ATC, and performance. Finish with Lesson 23 — Final Stock Check Project, combining a local RAP/Fiori app with read-only S/4HANA Product value help.

  4. Projects — apply the concepts independently. Complete the Travel Booking Inspector after SQL & CDS Lesson 5 and the Travel Budget Review Manager after Lesson 9. Build the Purchase Request Workflow Manager after Lesson 14, then extend it into the Service-Ready Purchase Request Application after Lesson 18.

  5. Certification Prep — after the modules and projects, complete the system preparation, attempt the three-hour practice exam, then review the worked solutions.

Resources

Find supporting material in the Resources overview:

  • Setup — prepare Eclipse, ADT, and your ABAP Cloud environment.
  • Workshops — practice Git, GitHub, and abapGit after Foundations Lesson 1, then HTTP and REST APIs after SQL, CDS & RAP Lesson 20.
  • Cheat Sheets — look up EML commands and CDS & ABAP data types.
  • Projects — apply your skills at the SQL, CDS & RAP checkpoints after Lessons 5, 9, 14, and 18, then complete the final Stock Check project in Lesson 23.
  • Guides — see how the course fits into the SAP S/4HANA development landscape.
  • Certification Prep — practice C_ABAPD 2601-style development tasks in BTP Trial, with setup guidance and separate worked solutions.

How the lessons work

Each numbered lesson and the HTTP workshop follow Learn → Practice → Companion: work through a guided example, apply it independently, then use the companion for deeper explanations and reference code. The Git workshop follows the same pattern with a lab in place of practice. The Local Classes & Local Types mini lesson follows Learn → Practice.

Use the Course menu to switch lesson modules and the sidebar to move through a module. Use Resources for setup, workshops, cheat sheets, projects, certification prep, and guides. Search is available throughout the course.
